Jyotish, traditionally known as Vedic astrology, is a structured knowledge system concerned with planetary positions, cycles, relationships and timing. Prajvia brings these concepts together with modern computation and AI to make Jyotish easier to explore, understand and personalize.

Jyotish (from Sanskrit jyoti?a, "the science of light") is one of the six classical Vedangas — auxiliary disciplines associated with the Vedas. Historically, it developed as a discipline of astronomical calculation and interpretation used to understand time, cycles and the relationships between planetary bodies and human experience.
In modern usage, Jyotish is often called Vedic astrology. The two terms refer to the same underlying system. What distinguishes Jyotish from generic astrology content is its emphasis on precise calculation — a chart built from a specific date, time and place of birth — and on interpretive frameworks that combine planets (Grahas), signs (Rashis), houses (Bhavas), lunar mansions (Nakshatras) and planetary period systems (Dashas).
Prajvia treats Jyotish as a structured knowledge system: something that can be modelled, computed and explored, rather than presented only as static readings. This page is an introduction to the system's core ideas and to the tools Prajvia is building around them.
Every Jyotish analysis follows the same conceptual pipeline. Prajvia turns each stage into something you can see, question and study.
Every birth chart is expressed through the same core elements. Each links to a deeper Prajvia knowledge page as it is published.
The nine planetary bodies of Jyotish and their traditional significations.
The twelve zodiac signs used to describe planetary environments.
The 27 lunar mansions used for finer timing and interpretation.
The twelve houses of the chart, representing life areas.
Planetary period systems used to sequence timing across life.
Current planetary movements relative to your birth chart.
The five-part Vedic almanac used for daily timing.
The practice of selecting auspicious windows for activities.
The Kundli is the diagram at the centre of Jyotish. It maps the positions of the nine Grahas onto the twelve Rashis and the twelve Bhavas, at a specific moment and place. A well-calculated chart also identifies the Lagna (the sign rising on the eastern horizon), the Moon's Nakshatra and pada, and the active Dasha and Antardasha periods.
Interpreting a Kundli involves reading the relationships between these elements: which planets sit together, which aspect each other, which house each rules, and which timing period is currently active. Different Jyotish traditions apply different weighting to these signals — Prajvia documents the specific rules it uses on the Research page as they are formalized.
Once your chart is calculated, most questions in Jyotish can be reframed as: which grahas, which houses and which timing periods are relevant to what I'm asking about? That framing is what makes personalized analysis possible.
A common question: "What does Saturn in the 10th house traditionally signify?"
Jyotish becomes significantly more personal when the planetary positions at the time and place of your birth are calculated. Prajvia performs the calculations deterministically on the server and uses AI only to help explain the results.

Daily horoscopes group everyone born under one sun sign into a single description. Individualized Jyotish analysis works from a chart specific to your birth.
Traditionally, Jyotish charts were drawn by hand and interpreted from memory of classical texts. Modern computation changes what is practically possible without changing the underlying system:
An important boundary: AI does not transform traditional Jyotish into scientifically proven fact. Prajvia uses technology to make the system computationally accessible, explainable and interactive — not to make claims of certainty about future outcomes.
Prajvia is interested in structured questions such as:
These questions guide how the calculation engine, the AI layer and the knowledge base are designed. Ongoing methodology is published on the Prajvia Research page.

Jyotish is the classical Vedic system of astronomical calculation, timing and interpretation. It studies planetary positions and cycles relative to a person's date, time and place of birth.
Yes. "Vedic astrology" is the common English name for Jyotish. Both terms refer to the same underlying knowledge system.
A birth chart uses astronomical calculations of planetary positions at a specific date, time and place of birth. Those positions are then mapped into signs (Rashis), houses (Bhavas) and lunar mansions (Nakshatras) using the Jyotish framework.
A Kundli is a Vedic birth chart — a diagram showing which planets sit in which signs and houses at the moment and place of birth, along with the Moon's Nakshatra and pada.
The Lagna, or Ascendant, is the zodiac sign rising on the eastern horizon at the moment of birth. It is a primary reference point for interpreting a Jyotish chart.
Grahas are the nine planetary bodies used in Jyotish: Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu. Each has traditional significations and rulerships.
Nakshatras are the 27 lunar mansions used in Jyotish for finer-grained timing and interpretation than signs alone. Each Nakshatra is further divided into four padas.
Dashas are planetary period systems used for timing. Vimshottari Dasha, the most widely used, divides a 120-year cycle among the nine grahas, subdivided into Antardashas.
Transits are the current, real-time planetary positions considered relative to your birth chart. They are used for short- and medium-term timing analysis.
Jyotish calculations of planetary positions are mathematically precise. Interpretive claims, however, vary by tradition and cannot be treated as guarantees of specific outcomes.
Prajvia's calculation engine determines your chart deterministically. Prajvia AI then explains the traditional Jyotish meaning of those placements in readable language. The AI does not invent astronomical positions.
Your date of birth, exact time of birth and birthplace. Exact time affects Lagna and house calculations; without it, precision is reduced.
It's strongly recommended. Prajvia allows you to proceed without an exact time, but Lagna-based analysis will be limited in that case.
